The giant automotive company, Honda is going to release it's very first air vehicle with the name Honda Jet. With the reputation as the superior engineering and has been in the automotive and engine industry for years; it is not a big deal for Honda to expand the technology into aircraft. Honda Jet is going to be released after several years of research. Here are some general specifications of the Honda Jet.

General Description

Every aircraft should have the basic accommodation which means a place for pilot and copilot. In total, Honda Jet can carry maximal five people with two crews in the standard configuration and six passengers with two aircrews for air taxi configuration. The Honda aircraft is certified with the US requirements.


The Honda Jet is a commercial jet which grounds up from a clean sheet paper design. This aircraft stands out other aircraft in its class with mounting over the wings engine, using laminar-natural flow for the fuselage and wings, as well as equipped with other technology innovations. The cutting edge design makes Honda Jet becomes the lightest and advanced business jet. It flies and soars higher with less noise and more fuel effective with more space.

Fuselage Group

The entire fuselage structure consists of the combination of honeycomb sandwich and stiffened panels structure. The stiffened panel structure is employed to maximize the cabin volume by applying the panels for a constant cross section of the cabin.


The Honda Jet interior will employ the standard cabin which consists of separated cabin from the cockpit by a refreshment center which also can be used as a storage area as well as the divider. As mentioned above, the cabin area consists of constant cross section. Throughout the cabin area, the aisle 59 inches height with four seats in the spacious arrangement. The seats are arranged in facing forward and side seat. The lavatory is separated by solid panel doors from the cabin area. In addition to the lavatory, it is equipped with flushing toilet, a vanity, a storage cabinet, and a sink. There are also external luggage areas. The nose luggage space for about 9 ft in height is located in the front of the bulkhead. While the aft luggage compartment for about 57 ft is located in tail cone side.


One of the fascinating technologies in Honda Jet is the engine which located in the wing side. The common planes have the engine which is attached in under the wings; while the Honda Jet has the engine attached over the wing. The research teams find out that the engine attached in the top side of the wing will actually decrease the drag. This aircraft engine placement increases the cabin space since it removes support structures. Through the theoretical and real world testing, the Honda research teams claim that the over the wing engine will create an aerodynamic performance as it decreases the wind drag. In addition of the engine, the company claims that the Honda Jet’s engine is fuel efficient and lightweight compared to the other aircraft in its class. The engine’s type of Two GE-HONDA HF-120 turbofan engines was created by Honda with general Electric. The engine specification is considered unique and efficient.
